Denmark’s New 2027 Work Route Could Open Fresh Opportunities for Indian Professionals 

Denmark is preparing to introduce a new work-permit route that could attract more attention from professionals outside the European Union. The change is particularly relevant for Indian workers exploring career opportunities in Europe. The new route is scheduled to begin in January 2027, giving qualifying employers another way to recruit international talent. 

Called the Collective Agreement-Based Business Scheme, the new route will allow eligible Danish companies to recruit workers from selected countries. However, the process starts with the employer. Companies must meet specific requirements and receive certification before they can use the scheme to recruit foreign workers.

The employer requirements are an important part of the process. A Danish company applying for certification must meet several conditions. These include having at least 10 full-time permanent employees, operating for at least two years and complying with Danish immigration and labour rules. The company must also be covered by a relevant collective agreement. 

The job itself must meet requirements as well. Positions offered through the scheme must be covered by a recognised collective agreement, while the salary must meet the applicable minimum. The announced minimum salary is DKK 322,000 per year at the 2026 level. 

For Indian professionals, this makes the new route particularly worth watching. It connects international recruitment with established Danish employment standards, while giving qualifying businesses a new framework to hire talent from outside the EU.
