Update from the Department of Home Affairs – English Language Test Options Expanded
Starting 7 August 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has added 3 new approved English tests for migration applications, includes Michigan English Test (MET), LanguageCert, and CELPIP. These join the existing list of tests like IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, OET and Cambridge English: Advanced (C1 Advanced)

Effective 7 August 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has expanded the list of approved English language tests for migration (PR) applicants.
Newly Accepted English Tests:
- Michigan English Test (MET)
- LanguageCert Academic
- CELPIP General
Tests Currently Accepted:
- TOEFL iBT
- Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)
- IELTS (Academic & General Training)
- Occupational English Test (OET)
- Cambridge English: Advanced (C1 Advanced)
Please note: Score requirements vary depending on the level of English required (e.g. Functional, Vocational, Competent, Proficient, Superior).
